Junior Backend Developer

About the role

You will join our development team building APIs, integrations between business systems, and customizations for Prometheus, our ERP built on ERPNext. You will learn from senior developers through code review and pairing, and you will take real features from ticket to production.

What you will do

• Build and maintain server-side logic in Python or Node.js
• Design secure, well-documented REST APIs and system integrations
• Work with relational and document databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL/MariaDB and MongoDB
• Build Frappe/ERPNext customizations, reports and automations for Prometheus clients
• Work with front-end developers to connect interfaces to the server
• Write clean, tested, maintainable code and take part in code reviews
• Debug and fix issues, and improve performance where it matters
• Contribute to documentation and to our deployment and monitoring practices with the DevOps team

What you bring

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field
• 1 to 2 years of backend development experience
• Proficiency in at least one backend language: Python, Node.js, PHP, Ruby or Java
• Experience with a web framework such as Django, Flask, Express or Laravel
• Understanding of SQL databases, ORMs, REST design, authentication and authorization
• Comfort with Git, testing, and basic CI/CD
• Curiosity and a habit of teaching yourself new tools

Nice to have

• Experience with Frappe or ERPNext
• Familiarity with AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
• Some front-end knowledge (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
